Subject: fuel tank mountings I'm dismantling my 16/80 which saw use on roads that were salted. Some of the fasteners are really rusted up and very difficult to remove. The three bolts holding the tank on are a good example. I've got the nuts off, I can rotate one of the bolts with some effort, but I can't slide it out. I assume the bolt passes through a rubber bushing. I'm guessing that this bushing has a steel tube as its inner diameter and the bolt has rusted to it. Can anyone confirm this (or describe what's in there) so I have a better idea of what to do next? Thanks, Alec |

Subject: Re: fuel tank mountings Hi Alec, My car isn't a 16/80 but the bush is probably the same type of silentbloc bush. Basically two metal tubes (a smaller, bolt diameter, tube within a larger tube) with rubber infill. So the bolt is binding on the inner tube of the bush. Hope this helps. No doubt someone with 16/80 knowledge can confirm this. David |

Subject: Re: fuel tank mountings Hi David; Thanks - that's exactly what's there. I thought 1933 was a bit early for Silentblocs but a quick search showed they came out in the early '30s. Now I'll have to find replacements... Alec |
