It will be very interesting to see if it goes for around that level, or stupidly higher. What a shame the number plate is being touted, let's hope whoever buys is interested in the car as a whole, and not asset stripping. Laurence |

David is correct, that it is not saleable until the car is made roadworthy and taxed with MOT etc. So it is more likely in my opinion that the number plate will stay with the car for now at least. imo., Julian is bang on with his valuation of the car as is, and there is clearly one hell of a lot of work to be taken on. But, it is unique, and deserves to be saved, but it is not a dhc, so one wonders where the auction house got the estimate from ? The majority of people in the club who would be interested, already know about it, hopefully a white knight will step forward... |

It was the most expensive car by a long way in terms of auction estimate, yet everyone who might be interested in the club knew about it.. So what happened ? A white knight rode up on his charger and paid the asking price ?. I imagine that the owner and auction house were given a substantial bid above the lower estimate to close the sale ? What a shame that the sale price will now not be known ! It might have been a no-sale, but I think not, given how crazy "barn-find" or totally good cars which have been allowed to rot have been making... Just suggestions, and no doubt I will be proved wrong... |
