Subject: 3/4.5? In the Bentley world, such is a commonplace, and much admired, conversion. Presumably, this is due not only to the increase in capacity but also the disparity between chassis length and weight. That said, I'd be interested to know if there is much (or any) merit in creating such a Lagonda special? Tim

Subject: Re: 3/4.5? Lagonda created the M45 by putting a Meadows 4.5L engine in their 3L chassis, I think the first one even had a 3L rad. Bentley's 3L chassis came in 3 lengths anyway but the same engine. Knew of a chap that had a WO 4.5L with a 3L engine.

Lagonda created the M45 by putting a Meadows 4.5L engine in their 3L chassis, I think the first one even had a 3L rad. Bentley's 3L chassis came in 3 lengths anyway but the same engine. Knew of a chap that had a WO 4.5L with a 3L engine.

Obviously, one would carefully put to one side all the original parts so that they might be reinstated at a later date. I wonder if the 4.5 engine can be squeezed into the earlier chassis, since I think I'm right in saying that these 3 litres used a slightly modified 2 litre low chassis? Also, the 3 litre cars used a right hand shift whereas I believe most of the 4.5 units were mated to the G10 centre shift box.
