Here's a DHC advertised by a NY, USA dealer. It says LG6 but looks more like a late LG45 to me? Their website is sales@gullwingmotorcars.com

The Gullwing N.Y. car is definitely an LG45, leaf springs and beam axle indicate that. There appear to be parts missing, ie front apron, air silencer, but that looks quite a good price for that car.

I believe it was this "gull wing motors" car I was offered not that long ago from a chap in Oregon ? for even less money. I thought it was a bargain and as you say it still looks quite reasonable. I thought it would sell quickly as it appeared it was being offered to other Lagonda club members as well. I suppose the location put off most potential buyers.

The Lagonda LG45 de Ville is a rare survivor and the car on offer at ACA looks to be untouched. Our Club Registrar considers it likely that only 24 were built and perhaps just 3 or 4 survive. The long wheel base de Ville (9 inches longer than the standard LG45) was offered with the option of a central division but this was rarely specified.
Interestingly, the LG45 de Ville was launched with the new G10 centre change three synchro gearbox. The Motoring Press at the time all mention the launch of the LG45 de Ville and the new gearbox in the same article and in the photos the test car is a de Ville. The G10 gearbox was of course developed for the V12 and I believe all de Ville's had the G10 gearbox fitted.
The longer body of the de Ville was cleverly disguised by Frank Feeley by extending the rear doors and including a rear door quarterlight (a good identifier of the model). The car was not pillarless but had a B post to facilitate the division (if specified) and this also helped strengthen the body. The model on offer at ACA has the standard sloping boot which is an elegant design. The continental touring boot was more box shaped and available to special order. The LG45 de Ville is a stately vehicle and very relaxing to drive, unlike other LG45s the axle ratio was 3.9:1 so you cruise around 60-65mph.
Lets hope this rare survivor is restored to its former glory and not sacrificed for another dreary team car replica.

Assuming the car is Chassis 12319... the engine was listed as LG6/459/S4...UK reg GPH 926 ... which all seems a little confusing... a study of the engine picture would appear to indicate THIS engine number AND chassis 12319...

BEWARE! This LG45 DHC located in the US (i.e. NOT the UK auction Coupe De Ville) has no chassis plate, no clear title, no documentation, and no pink slip. It also has the wrong (an LG6) engine, which Gullwing are trying to say provides the correct chassis number. The Club knows all about this car and its lack of any kind of credible provenance.

The 'owner' tried selling it for about 18 months before (apparently) selling it on to Gullwing. I spoke to him myself before the latest stage in this saga.

Every time anyone asks Gullwing an awkward question, their tactic appears to be to try and get rid of them by saying that the car is sold and a deposit taken. That's what I was told at first and this is what they've just said to another LC member only today.

My own opinion is - STAY WELL CLEAR.

Fully concur with you Tim.

I considered the purchase of this "LG45 dhc" some while ago from the original private vendor.

One must be very cautious, as there is no provenance, chassis plate or any form of paperwork.

Secondly, one must tread very carefully with the current vendors

CAVEAT EMPTOR

One small point this thread has become a little confusing, with the addition of the LG45 De Ville.

Peter if you are around, would you mind moving part of this to a new thread please
