Subject: Looking for a car's history
Hello forum members!

I'm turning to you with little hope of help, still, I have now idea who else to ask. A friend of mine has been the proud owner of a 1936 LG45 for many years. Recently, he's applied for a FIVA certificate because some events are starting to ask for one. However, he was denied because he wasn't able to provide:
- a "Heritage Certificate" (The FIVA guy had no idea where he might obtain one, however, he keeps insiting on it)
- the car's complete, extensive history (according to him, this should be about 10-20 pages in writing)

I think it's a rather hopless case, still, I'm trying to find someone who might now about his car's history. That's what I know:

The car (Chassis Nr 12083/ Engine Nr. LG 45/185/S1) probably used to be a Saloon and, according to the last owner was turned into a 4-seater Team Car in the mid 1940s. The current owner bought it from an Irishman in Beaulieu in 1995 and brought it to Austria. The car then had white on black numerplates with the reg. nr. COF 752.

Does anyone know anything about this car or its previous owners?

Thanks for your help,
dani

Dear dani,
I assume you or your friend are not yet member of the Lagonda Club ? in this case you could contact Arnold Davey who has all the files for all cars known to the club. As a first step you can have a look at the club homepage for contacts http://lagondaclub.co.uk/index.php?/contact

Heritage certificates are usually only needed for postwar classic cars - Jaguars etc. They are supplied by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Archive (http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk) However, Arnold Davey of the Lagonda Club can provide much more authoritative information for Lagondas

Hello alanelliott, Peter

Thanks - I do have Heritage Cerificates for my own MGs, however, I fear that something like that might be impossible for the Lagonda. I'll just have to try to make the FIVA gentleman see sence...

I'll contact Mr. Davey, thanks fo the hint. I think my friend used to be a club member.

This special was built for the late Mr Ben Moles of Dublin by David Dunn with another for himself in the early 1990's from old saloons that had been broken up years ago as David had bought them for spares when he had EPE 97 that he restored from its Goodhew form to original spec. This was in the days before new engine parts etc were available as he started racing the old team car in 1974. I have a picture of the above 2 chassis with my own when we first started them. David had two 4 seater bodies built by Jack Buckley similar to the team cars but Ben's car had the body covered in fabric and painted black. It looked wrong with the fabric but the customer loved the finish. Good to know that its still on the road.
