Good news here I think. If you comb the Beaulieu Autojumble you should find that replicas are being made out a correct modern spring steel. Fortunately, not being a safety critical item, this level of specification should suffice!
Also try the motorbike spares people because a similar bracket is used to mount a horn onto the frame on a British bike.
You may have to play with rivets and buts and bolts to get exactly the right mounting.
