To answer your question; yes, I have also joined the Lagonda Club.
I'm also a member of AMOC but not active. All my free time is spent in my workshop, restoring a DBSV8.
I think your advice is sound. IE: Keep the Lagonda rolling for the time being and get to know her and acquire some knowledge before commencing a full-on restoration.
I've managed to get her running but she 'wanders' a lot when driving. I may have little choice but to use the trailer to get to the meeting.
