Subject: Wanted 2 Litre Low Chassis Differential I am desperately seeking a serviceable 2 Litre Low Chassis light(OH) axle differential with a 4.2 crown wheel and pinion. Mine has suffered terminal damage. A differential unit needing just a new crown wheel and pinion would be an option. Any help or advice pointing me in the right direction gratefully received Mark (Register no. Y2) |

Subject: Re: Wanted 2 Litre Low Chassis Differential Hi Mark Bad luck. I was in the same boat in the summer and managed to find a diff thanks to the Suffolk mafia, but before that I found an early light axle diff cage casting at David Ayre's store. The club will sell you a new cwp. So you might be able to fit your diff internals with a new cwp to the cage. I didn't buy it so he might still have it. The other option wd be to fit a heavy axle - 3L axle was for sale in club newsletter last month, but that is more of an operation I appreciate. I have some spare planet gears etc leftover from my summer diff job if that wd help. Kind regards Tim |

Subject: Re: Wanted 2 Litre Low Chassis Differential Thanks Tim, I believe the recently offered heavy axle has now sold, but as you say, remaking all the rear wing brackets to take account of the additional width would be a pain. The whole axle has turned out to be a bit of a mess. There is evidence of some home made repairs in the half shaft department! ...so have to replace those as well. As for the differential it is extensive gear wear/damage and bearing wear ..so the casing/cage is hopefully ok. I will try to send you a PM regarding the planet gears, so we can make contacts, they may get me out of trouble Best Regards Mark |
