Subject: Two V12s for sale (Bonham's, Tupelo MS USA) Interesting to see 2 V12s for sale at the same time over here in the States! One is rough but servicable (1938 Saloon #14100 ( https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/25593/lot/469/ ) and the other a project (1939 Drophead Coupe #14116 ( https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/25593/lot/482/ ). It looks like neither of them has been out on the road in quite a while... |

Subject: Re: Two V12s for sale (Bonham's, Tupelo MS USA) Usual strange American earlier dating of cars; the saloon is 1939, not 1938, and the dhc is 1940, not 1939. Makes one wonder how accurate the rest of the blurb is! |

Subject: Re: Two V12s for sale (Bonham's, Tupelo MS USA) Been up for sale for some time, at some mark up on the price paid at auction. They don't quite get round to saying that the engine is in fact seized, which rather makes the car a pig in a poke at that price. If that "restoration" was done by a museum, they should be ashamed. Crass and entirely unsuitable paint scheme, door panels renewed with no respect to originality, probably in plastic, and carpets of the cheapest crap imagineable. Nevertheless it could be a nice car with money and love. |
