Subject: LR 126 Mystery lock and key Whilst starting preliminary work on my car today, I noticed another key (a Wilmoy), under the drivers side access panel., located near the drivers side foot air ventilator. Picture attached, has anyone any ideas on its function ? The key is in fact shiny, apologies for poor resolution. Have checked build sheet and known service history, nothing mentioned. Strange, since this looks to be a period key, I wonder f it is a replacement ignition, since this was changed in 1964. But, I would have expected them to have changed the dash-mounted lock ? |

Subject: Re: LR 126 Mystery lock and key In view of "hidden" location, I'd suspect it's an anti-theft device. Laurence |

Subject: Re: LR 126 Mystery lock and key A good possibilty, especially since it is wired into the loom, and has always been there However, normally, the isolator switch located next to the battery was enough, as on most DB cars. I won't find out for awhile though. Not mentioned in the build sheet, but wiring contemporary with the loom, and same set-up as for igntion barrel and relay, which I accessed today. So best guess is an early anti-theft / early immobiliser. Thankfully, the key is present! |
