My car needs new rack mounts, the originals have perished, so have opted for solid aluminium replacements, temporarliy if necessary in the interests of getting its MOT asap - Christian did you go for the original metalastic ones or change to solid? Does anyone else have road experience of the solid mounts from a "road feel" perspective?

I went for metalastic, when it's new it's pretty stiff. I updated to aluminium on my TR4 but I couldn't honestly say if it felt much different as I also fitted polybushes to the suspension at the same time... In theory it should make the steering a bit tighter.

My car got its MOT on Monday. Have driven about 40 miles since, and steering feels much crisper with solid mounts rather than perished metalastic, no surprise. Throttle response much improved too having taken slack out of the linkage with new parts and bushes as necessary
