Subject: windscreen fitting With help from some members I,ve been trying to discover whether the windscreen surround or the windscreen frame are the correct shape for my car. As you can see from the pictures the top of the screen is curved and the body top frame is straight. I bought from the club spares a replacement windscreen rubber which bears no resemblence to the one that was fitted, has anybody used the club rubber and did you fit it all round the screen?

Subject: Re: windscreen fitting Hello, When Brian Savill had the rubber seal made, it was specifically for the earlier windscreens such as are fitted to W2 and ST24/34 bodies in 1930-32/33. It was not specifically made for the later Frank Feely bodies which may instead have used a proprietary moulding instead. By 1939 I think there was a lot more mass-production of this kind of thing so do not place any virtue in this moulding being correct at all... Colin M34

Hello,

When Brian Savill had the rubber seal made, it was specifically for the earlier windscreens such as are fitted to W2 and ST24/34 bodies in 1930-32/33. It was not specifically made for the later Frank Feely bodies which may instead have used a proprietary moulding instead. By 1939 I think there was a lot more mass-production of this kind of thing so do not place any virtue in this moulding being correct at all...

The seal is fairly good for its age but inevitably rotted & split at the corners. I cut a sliver off & took it to Prescott hill climb, where I knew there would be a fairly good autojumble. A guy there was selling rubber mouldings, & to my surprise I came away with 3 different samples...unusual to be spoilt for choice! It's possible, but unlikely, that the moulding is the same for the saloon. I'd recommend doing a (perhaps online) search and see what is available. Laurence

My V12 windscreen frame has square corners at the top, but then it is a dhc, so would have. The seal is fairly good for its age but inevitably rotted & split at the corners. I cut a sliver off & took it to Prescott hill climb, where I knew there would be a fairly good autojumble. A guy there was selling rubber mouldings, & to my surprise I came away with 3 different samples...unusual to be spoilt for choice!
It's possible, but unlikely, that the moulding is the same for the saloon. I'd recommend doing a (perhaps online) search and see what is available.

I can not cut a piece off for you (it is a bit old but still tight) http://www.coh-baines.co.uk have a huge selection but there should be many other (local) suppliers Also I added a foto showing the rear window (vent window? quarterlight?). Here I exchanged the rubber and found a grey one (fits to the color of my car) with very similar profile like you are showing but much thinner and finer so it is easy to compress. Supplier was Angst & Pfister in Switzerland part no DT10 2508 9034, Dimensions 10.5x6.5 mm overall.
