Subject: Dead 3 litre in Earlswood

By chance today, spotted a 4 door 3 litre under trees at Abbey Farm, Earlswood, Warks. It has clearly been there many years and may not have been visible from the road until a relatively recent hedge removal.

it is a battleship grey colour and bears no number plates so not much info I'm afraid. Sadly the drivers window is open so the interior is a real mess, A quick glance at the wheelarches suggests the car is complete if very rotten and sitting on the earth. Also covered with leaves...

Anybody know of this car before?

Hi David,
most important question will be: is the engine still in ?

Hello Peter, good question, difficult to answer without trespassing! In the coming time i might have another look, this time with binoculars. Best regards

David

David good evening,

Is this the dark grey saloon which you spotted, with drivers side window open, and car slowly sinking into the earth ?

The car located if memory serves me rightly, off Earlswood Common ?

No engine, VIN ID plate or number plates.

Car very, very rotten indeed and interior totally shot; front wheels removed and suspension collapsing into the ground.

Once upon a time old cars were still found in such hedges, now a rarity of course.

Thanks Simon, exactly right location. I suppose it will simply dissolve in time. Is there really nothing worth salvaging?

David hi,

Since you posted the email, several parties have been in contact with the owner of Abbey Farm.

The car has its gearbox still with it, which is a surprise. No doubt also the diff and steering rack and other useful parts present as well.

If anyone wants contact details, pm me please.

Kind regards

Simon
