Subject: LG45 Leaf Spring Leather Gaiters Does anyone know if LG45s had Wefco leaf spring gaiters originally? If they did how did they accommodate the oil pipe brackets that were mounted on the spring guide bolts on the front springs? There must be holes in the gaiters? David |

Subject: Re: LG45 Leaf Spring Leather Gaiters David, It's not the easiest of things to photograph without removing wheels and having a ramp/lift but I've done my best. The gaiters are in 2 halves per spring and don't wrap the spring bolts. I suspect our cars have a slightly different arrangement. Please call me if I can help further. Sorry if not much use. David |

Subject: Re: LG45 Leaf Spring Leather Gaiters Hi David, Many thanks for taking the photos.Photo 3 shows it clearly. It does seem to be fixed with a plastic tie to the gaiter strap? On my car the pipes were attached by brackets fixed to the spring guide bolts. A couple of photos attached - one from the manual and another car being dismantled - not my car buy mine was the same. So it does seem likely this was how the pipes were attached. Perhaps the gaiter was in separate pieces and didn't cover the guides? Bill, if you mean the centre U bolts then no, they don't. The bolts I refer to are the guide clip bolts. See pix. |
