Subject: LG6 Carburettor - Threaded fuel inlet
Hello everyone, thought I'd try the forum for some more advice.

The front carb on my LG6 was leaking and upon investigation I've found that the thread in the float bowl, where the fuel line attaches, is worn and doesn't tighten. Any suggestions on how to repair? Does anyone know the size and pitch of the thread?
Regards, Mike

Subject: Re: LG6 Carburettor - Threaded fuel inlet
Had an identical problem with my LG45 carburettor.
Tried a few solutions but without success so I purchased a new T4 float lid from Burlen Ltd and problem was solved.
In order to get a fuel tight seal with the fibre washer between banjo fitting and the float lid you had to tighten the banjo bolt to the extent that a thread repair was not advisable. But depends on what you use I guess. Sorry to say I don't know the thread type.
Hope this helps
Mark

Thanks Mark,
The name of the supplier is helpful in itself, thanks. If I can't find a suitable replacement locally, that tip will be very helpful.
Thanks again, Mike

Listed on Burlen web site and they do mail order,
From memory they come complete with a new float valve, and fork
Suggest you consider buying the float valve separately as they also do one with a rubber tipped pin which shuts off better and get a bag of fibre washers the right size from them whilst you are about it...
Mark is dead right, often these have to be done up real tight so would not mess about just replace it.
(Ensure the banjo lines up nicely and readjust the solid pipe if it does not as this is a fine thread in mazak and will strip if cross threaded / not treated with care)
Good luck

PS: Don't forget to check the float height, with a new top and fork it will need checking and may need adjusting, this is done by gently bending the fork

Thanks Bill,
I have found a stockist in Australia, and another who can get one, so all good there. And yes, I intend to get some new washers and some spares, although I carry a kit of fibre washers of various sizes that has got me and others out of trouble in the past.
Thanks, Mike
