what tyre pressure do you normally run on your 2 litre;mine ist actually equipped with Firestones on 33 psi.
Is that OK?

Good question. I am running on 600 x 21 Blockleys at 30 psi but Blockleys do have very rigid side walls. My Dunlop book says that 5.25 x 21 F4s should have a max pressure of 36 psi, so I guess 33 is about right.

Yes, although Dunlops tend to be a bit more expensive. In my opinion for normal road use Firestone is fine. If you regularly check your tread depth and find you are wearing your tyres in the centre more than the sides then you should reduce your pressures by a couple of pounds, and vice versa. If you do any form of competition, hill climbs or sprints then it's best to up the pressures to about 40 or you could just find a tyre rolling off the rim. Hope this helps. Tim

How do the Blockleys rate ?

I've used Firestones ever since Lenny arrived, and have found them fine, both on the road and on my limited track adventures.
I run at 33 on the road, and 40 on the track.

I considered Blockleys (we use them on trials plus other Vintage racers), but thought they were too wide to fit, and fouled the body at the back of the rear wheel arch.

The 600 x 21 Blockley will fit but not before I had to make some adjustments to the mudguard stays front and rear. I can't say I'm over impressed with their performance but they do look good. I expected to take a couple of seconds of my lap times but a couple of tenths was all I managed. (it could be the driver!) The wear rate has also been higher than expected and I've just turned them on the rims to even it out. At the price they charge I had hoped for better. Has anyone any suggestions when I come to replace them at the end of next season ?

I had Firestone 525 x 21 (at 34 psi pressure) on my 2L before I changed the wheels to a smaller size (this is because mine is a 1933 2L with a T7 body; 19" wheels are standard for this model and the car runs better as well) and now I have Blockley 500 x 19. I agree that they look good but they have a habit of going "square" when the car stands still for some time. Blockleys are also very expensive. On the whole I perferred the Firestones. Dunlop used to make tyres that look exactly like the Blockleys - does anyone know if these are still available?
