Subject: Interior Retrim
Yesterday I visited the small company who are copying my original carpets, I knew they were good but I didn't realise how good. I'm rarely impressed with peoples workmanship but this guy is amazing! He's been working since 1964 doing the same thing for some top notch clients so I feel privileged to have got him.

I was originally a bit disappointed that he wouldn't copy the hemming exactly as it was - he does it all by hand and will only hem Rolls Royce style - which involves tucking it in on itself. Fortunately it really does look very nice and though I don't like un-originality generally this is a definite improvement, you can see the quality. I pick up all of the carpet tomorrow and can't wait to refit it.

The carpet is 100% wool (Wilton) from Woolies, the hemming is also from Woolies but the re-trimmer has also used leather edging too. He has remade the leather heal pads, gear stick and hand brake gaiters. If anyone wants his details let me know - he is very busy though and it took about 4 months of light hassling to get his to find time to do it all!

Yes I agree, the other really impressive tradesman was the windscreen installer, he's been doing the same thing since the 60's and what a job that was - 4 hours of pushing pulling and walloping!

Sorry not to update the photo of the master cylinder mechanism as I said I would... Hopefully getting my Girling servos back from being rebuilt tomorrow, then once installed my brakes should be literally as good as new.
