Subject: Lagonda Rapide for Sale with Nicholas Mee
I have just noticed this car for sale, is it LR132, looks to be a good condition 2 car ?

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C673641

Asking price of £225,000

Strangely looks like a S. Ken setting, is that not where the car was extracted from back in 2012 and then sold at Bonham's NP auction

Looks very smart especially on the darker colour. So tell me, if that's £225k why would AM Works have rejected an offer of £350k on the one for sale at auction recently? Or is it simply that AMW have ideas beyond market expectations and Nicholas Mee is more realistic?

The two cars are as different as chalk and cheese.

Beauty is often skin deep with these cars, as with most DB Astons of the 1960's.

Having had one stripped down to a bare chassis, I can fully understand a £330-350,000 price tag for a superb nut and bolt resto of a Rapide by AML.

Agreed. Nicholas Mee have been offering the car for some time. I imagine that it isn't theirs, which fact invites a number of questions.

Could it be 129? Wheels look familiar. Ah no, no bullet wing mirrors and slightly darker colour. Interesting front seats and headrests. Clearly has had money spent even if not as much as 146 which is as perfect under the skin as externally. Interesting that it's running on twin SU carbs

White gold or fawn leather interior, hard to tell from pictures.

Dash-board with very plain grained walnut, original or replaced or just poor lighting ?

Seat head-rests nicely done, even if not original.

Agreed money spent in recent times, looks like a nice set of s/s bumpers as well

See this link for 2012 auction, only 3.5 years ago...

Waiting to hear back from the vendors for full details on which car this is.

In my view not fawn, magnolia? It'll be interesting to see what details N Mee provide

Someone mislaid its hubcaps.

But found 3-eared spinners for the Dunlop wheels, like 129. I still have the original hubcaps that were the templates for the new batch from Coventry that went on 108

I think white-gold possibly refreshed interior with later magnolia head rests and door cards.

Chrome work seems to have been redone as well

D-type wheel spinners as used by Guy on 129, but at least correct wheels.
