Hi Bill,

I meant a modern unit.
I have spoken to quite a few people who even fitted them to V12s with disasterous results for the very reason above. V12 probably have the worst cooling flow of any engine I have ever seen. Modification here is the first thing I do if rebuilding a Lagonda V12.

Shutters are not great either but useful in winter on a "6" if you do it manually and don't forget.

Thank you Julian. I thought you probably meant a modern unit.
I agree that shutters are not great ! I have always used a manual conversion as I dont like the original thermo operation. I usually dont forget !
The manual operation is very useful when you come across a traffic jam or are about to attack a very steep hill or hills.
