Subject: Lagonda Rapide in Kingsbury Motors
Hi, I'm new to the forum and have ba question about a car I used to know.

Back in the mid 1970s, I used to know of a Lagonda Rapide which was parked up at the back of Kingsbury Motors in north-west London. It was, if I remember, maroon with beige leather interior. It may well have been used on film and TV, as it shared a yard with Corporal Jones' van from Dad's Army, an AEC RT bus which was used in 'Please Sir' film, Wally Briggs's Rover 90 from 'Romany Jones' and other assorted vehicles including a Jaguar S type police car.

Does anybody know what became of this car?

Hi Folks,

I grew up and went to school in Kingsbury in the 1950s and 60s. I have some memories of Kingsbury Motors, and certainly they had a great collection of interesting vehicles. They were conveniently situated for Denham, Elstree and the Television centre in White City and I would so not be surprised if ex-Vanden Plas people were involved. I can only hazily remember the Lagonda Rapide, but it was certainly the kind of car they would have had there. Of course the Lagonda Rapide would have been quite new then, though not, I believe, worth very much.

Hi, very interesting recollection. The colour combination (if it was then the same as when new) you desribe could fit 6 Rapides in UK at the time, all except one of which survive but some not in their original paint scheme. Not sure I can be of more help

Hi, thanks to you both for your posts. I'm sure the car was maroon.. it may have been bronze, one's memory fades a bit after nmearly forty years. But the interior was definitely beige. It was the first Lagonda Rapide I'd ever seen, and I really liked the look of the car. Wish I could recall the registration number. I watch a lot of old British films/TV, and always hoping to see it in something.
