Subject: sun visors in DB 3ltr DHC
Who has ideas how to remake the sun virsors, mine are from something like cardboard with a layer of thin felt-like cloth - bent and need a replacement. The problem is that the bracket which holds them only allows about 4-5mm thickness

Hi Peter,

Is the cardboard a grey/brown colour and quite hard and stiff?

It's probably millboard. Used in bookbinding to make the hard covers.

You can get millboard from companies that supply classic car trim materials. Or you could consider using something like rigid PVC sheet which is available in various thicknesses.

Peter,

Whilst you are searching for a suitable replacement, in either mill-board or hard pvc...

You could find and fit a pair of clear Rover P4 sun-visors, which a friend has put on his 3.0 litre and they fit and look fine, and were another period option for the 3.0 dhc.

Not surprising, given how many parts come from either Rover, Standard/Triumph or MG-A (door lock mechanisms etc)... Also of course the humble Morris Minor, a source for many parts as well...

The Rover P4 series, is also a great source for replacement front arm rests and the chrome adjustable brackets, when yours get worn out and need re-covering or repairing.
