Subject: Re: Rare 1939 V12 Coupe, Hooper Bodywork for sale at NEC 12/13th April
Peter hi
Perhaps wishful thinking at £70,000 for FLD1..
My take on it is slightly different. It was the most expensive car by a long way in terms of auction estimate, yet everyone who might be interested in the club knew about it..
So what happened ?
A white knight rode up on his charger and paid the asking price ?.
I imagine that the owner and auction house were given a substantial bid above the lower estimate to close the sale ?
What a shame that the sale price will now not be known !
It might have been a no-sale, but I think not, given how crazy "barn-find" or totally good cars which have been allowed to rot have been making...
Just suggestions, and no doubt I will be proved wrong...
