Well, I think it's a very nice prospect that should do well in the auction. :-) It looks a lot like my own project car, though in better condition.

Rare and desirable, by far the nicest of the 1950's DB-Lagondas in terms of styling.

I'd quarrel with 'by far'. We've been this way before, Simon. Grinning

First, they are all lovely IMO. Secondly, the 2 door coupes - especially the 2.6 Brooklands of Bond Street cars - are particularly desirable, I think, and run a pretty close second to the 3 litre DHCs. Thirdly, the Mk2 4 door saloon is a wonderful thing and, I would argue, nearly as desirably as the DHC. Finally, I would question whether the 2.6 DHC is so very far behind the 3 litre version in terms of desirability?

Just my two penneth, you understand.

Tim

Perhaps I am just more partial to the 3.0 litre cars, all are wonderful things, and yes fully agree the 2-door Coupes come close indeed. The 4-door saloons are indeed wonderful, but so very rare, thankfully there are a few owners who bought these as complete cars when they could.

To my eye the 2.6 dhc has dated a little too much, but again a personal view, in a two tone paint scheme they can look very impressive.

Back to the car in the auction.

Click on the e-catalogue and Bonham's have done a much better job than we thought on lot 207, publicity picture and period adverts included..

Tim hi,

I see their cataloguer has not fully updated the standard "browse through" catalogue yet. Full text now appears, but extra pictures not added yet ...

If you click on the "view e-catalogue" link to the rhs, this will take you to the full multi-page catalogue proper, where the description and pictures are complete.

Thank you Simon. Who knew (not I) that the e-catalogue was an additional item to to the online catalogue. Presumably, the e-catalogue is also something other than an electronic version of the hard copy to be published shortly, since it has so many more pages the result of doing otherwise would be an unfeasibly large tome. Therefore, what one ends up are three different versions of catalogue for the same auction. Blimey!

Tim S. explained this e-catalogue was the same as the hard covered catalogue winging its way in the post to us sometime soon..,

I was in the same boat as you until enlightened by Bonham's of how their system worked, far to complicated for me.
