Subject: 16/80 Rear Seat Back B Base
Just on the off chance I thought I would ask if anyone has a seat back and possibly the seat base for a T7 bodied 16/80 Tourer?

My car has a rear seat (obviously) but it is looks rather high at the top and sits proud of the bodywork across the back. Looking at pictures on the internet I think it may be out of a 2 Litre?

I'm planning a bit of work in the interior of my car and would like to correct this.

Hi Richard,
I had a similar issue with my 2 Litre rear seat. I discovered the seat frame back had been remade when it was retrimmed in the mid 1990s. It is often easier to remake the frame than repair the old one. The problem was it had not been made accurately and was missing the centre arm rest. I photographed and measured a back seat from a highly original car and gave the details to my trimmer who did a good job getting the seat right.

As regards the T7 bodied cars (16/80 3 Litre and M45) there do seem to be lots of detail differences in seat height. Of course trimmers work differently with different thicknesses of fluting and wadding so this affects seat shape and height. I guess it is really a matter of making your own decision on what looks correct and going for that. If you don't have the centre arm rest I have a number of the special fold down hinges if that helps.
Best regards
Mark

Hi Mark, thanks for your advice and I agree, it may be easier (for the time being) to modify my existing seat back. It does have an arm rest so I'm ok on that score!

Rich...
