Subject: Club spares service....do we have a spares service any more?!
I've emailed Robin regarding some of the ex-Leo spares I discussed with him at the last AGM several times since. Have used 2 different email addresses that have worked in the past, but had no response for months now! I have been, & still am abroad, no phone, & Club newsletters etc are unread as they're going to a correspondence address in the UK, so perhaps something's going/gone on that I'm not aware of.
Yes, I have paid my subscription!

This email works fine = spares@lagonda-club.com

However I also had some erratic service (emails lost or not answered), but when I spoke to Robin all was sorted out fine. His phone is still 01728 604040.

My comments are based on my experience at the end of January, just a couple of months ago.

Good luck!

Hi Folks,

You should be aware that Robin's day job is to work on and supply spares for Rolls-Royce cars; the amount he is paid by the Club is certainly not enough to support him full time. As well as working on customers' cars, he also has a family and to avoid too many arguments he sometimes goes home to see them.

Whenever I visit his place, it is always a hive of activity, sending many parcels of spares out every week. If you do find find difficultly contacting him, try his phone number +44 1728 604040. We also have an incredibly efficient administrator who keeps on top of the paperwork. Use the email address spares@lagonda-club.com

There will always be room for improvement and the club has a team of volunteers who oversee the spares operation and try to take some of the load off Robin's shoulders.

The volunteers have been sorting out the Leo spares, all Robin does is to send them out and take the payments. One of the things I had to do was to sort out all the half shafts, a filthy job!

If you have any real problems, contact me or other members of the spares sub-committee.

Thanks Alastair & Colin for the replies. Think that was one of the email addresses I used, will check. Just concerned not to have had any response whatsoever, so wondered if the service had gone into meltdown or whatever. Unfortunately no phone out here, probably not returning to the UK till August. I do appreciate & respect Robin's position, but it is annoying to receive no response, & not as if the questions asked are involved or otherwise time consuming. Will try again!

Laurence,
If it is appropriate, feel free to pose the question here and I will attempt to give you a reply which would be useful to other readers. If it is more specific, send me a private message.

I have an LG6 Saloon I wonder if anybody knows where I can get suitable windows rubbers, those that are pressed into crom surrounds and exclude the draught.

I seem to recall many years ago seeing someone selling some of this as pre-war NOS. It had a trade name but can't recall it. I suspect you'll find it is probably a "standard" item, in so far as many manufacturers, indeed coachbuilders, would have gone to the same supplier for this product. If you think about it, window glass is undoubtedly a standard thickness. Not saying that makes it easy to source, but you could try trim specialists, also perhaps the people at autojumbles selling rubber mouldings. Probably the same section in my V12 dhc so would be interested to hear if you find something suitable.
