Subject: Bumpers and Hub Caps
Just for your information...

Group Harrington will make Rapide bumpers for £1300 including over riders and delivery. Thier product is excellent so I will probably be ordering a set myself, unless I can find a good original rear bumper (unlikely!).

I've also asked AM Classic Car Accessories if they can make new outer and inner wheel trims so hopefully they will oblige...

Hi Christian,

I might be in need of a new front bumper; would you be interested in splitting a set, along with the cost of course?

Me too (potentially). The problem, though, as I see it is that I have my doubts as to whether these characters have ever made any bumpers or wheel embellishers for a Rapide before. If that is correct, it will not be clear whether these products are any good unless and until orders has been completed and the new items fitted successfully (or not).

I'm sending my actual bumpers off to Harringtons (never to be returned) so they will have a set to copy. I will let you know how they turn out - the price is non negotiable - I tried! If it makes you feel any better I am partly subsidising any subsiquent sales as I am paying a bit more to send my bumpers off.

What about hub caps though - the more orders the better!

Christian,
I look forward to your opinion of the results of the finished product.

My #155 has been at the panelbeater for a couple of weeks now; enough time to reveal modest rust in the wheel arches and door bottoms (evidently they never thought of drilling holes to let accumulated water out) but the body is totally sound.

The true original colour (green) has been revealed by removal of the boot number plate surround and it is far more pleasant than the part-faded colour showing when we bought the car in 1969.

Yes door drain holes would have been nice! The original colour of my Rapide was much nicer than the subsiquent colours it was painted in the 70's...it will be nice to revert it back.

Christian,

What was the quality of the hub caps like from this company, and how much did they charge ?

Many thanks for this contact, they are making another set of 12 wheel embellishers and hub cap in the next 6-8 weeks. I have put my name down for a set.

If anyone is looking to buy a set, would suggest that you contatc them shortly.

Total cost is 320 pounds for four wheels.
