Subject: Gearbox speedo drive
I have a ZE gearbox which was in my 2Litre when I bought it in 1959.At the time the speedo drive was missing from the box.Having another z box in the family I tried unsuccesfully to fit the drive on the spare box to the one in the car .The bronze holder fitted but the gear did not and appears be to be of a larger Circum. At the time it did not matter as I simply swapped the boxes.I am now rebuilding a car car that has been in bits for over 40 years and thus need the other box.Upon looking at it further the drive gear inside the box is slightly larger which would explain the reason for the driven gear not fitting.
Has anybody any ideas about this and may be able to advise

Hi Adrian

Lagonda Club to the rescue? You may have known the late David Wield. He had a a number of Lagondas which he utterly dismantled. See Alan Elliot's post of Mar 02, 2010 :

I expect you will have the information by now, but the auction is being conducted by Dorset Vintage & Classic Aucions, Station Road, Stalbridge, Dorset, DT10 2RH, tel 01963 363353, on March 25th 2010. It comprises three dismantled 2 litre Lagondas, and numerous spares. All formerly the property of the late David Wield.
The Club bought a number of lots at this auction, one of which was a pile of OH and Z gearbox bits. I have sorted some of these but they not all be listed; if you care to contact me privately, we can see if we can sort you out the right bit. It's worth a look!
