Subject: Rapide Bumpers
I thought I would continue this thread in a new place:

The holes to the top and bottom of the bumper, are of identical size, and both slightly flattened around the holes. So clearly original, but not used since the 1960's.

The last owner whose family had the car in storage, since 1970 confirmed that the lower fog lamps were removed during their ownership, and he has since mis-placed them amongst his mountain of parts and items he has hoarded. I might yet see them, along with the original car keys he also had mislaid.

If I am correct 108, had the same top holes on its original bumpers as well, so no doubt, a small cost extra item.

I wonder if the works, offered in fact two positions for fog lamps, although above the bumper bar, makes them practically useless. A abdge bar or similar would be useful there.. They really need to be lower to have any utlity in fog... Just an idea of course, and it does look very untidy, as 130 shows in period.

Here is a current picture of a Rapide with the badge bar in position, on top of the bumper.

Position is identical to mine, so clearly a period add on works feature to the Rapide, and not an after market one. But makes the front end very, very busy.

The only difference is that this badge bar has four supports to attach to top of bumper, so appears to be a possible later addition.

With the set up as shown, the fog lights would of course gone beneath the bumper.

However, as the period picture of LR130 shows, anything went, and you could clearly have any spec you wanted, depending how much money you wanted to pay of course...

Hello, as you are aware, the car in the picture is mine. The badge bar is a new reproduction & fitted in a position I thought suited with the badges positioned to minimise negative air flow!
Glad to provide any details should any wish to do similar.

Guy Vinall.

Dear Guy,

I do not yet know what to think of the badge bar, but with or without: what a STUNNING BEAUTY! Happy
