Subject: Rare 3.0 litre 2-door saloon, no engine at Bonhams Beaulieu on 8th September
Bonhams will be auctioning a very rare 3.0 litre 2-door saloon in September. The description is riddled with many mistakes as usual.
Do note that only 70 of these elegant 2-door cars were made, so this is one to take a look at.
The estimate is about right given the condition at 3-5,000 pounds. I would guess around the lower end.

The car with plenty of work needing doing, improve the interior from the pictures shown, but looks saveable. Seats appear to be in good order, restored at some time in the last 20 years, now with some mildew and blemishes. But, nothing major, all easily sortable.
No engine, but the gearbox present. Car was known to the AMOC in USA and more recently in Ireland. Yet another car, where someone has stripped out the engine, and in the last 10-15 years, what a shame, but sortable, since majority of parts still in place in engine bay, which is also a plus point.
There is a 3.0 litre engine presently for sale on eBay. The vendor has found a treasure trove of 3 cars and is breaking them all, I am sorry to say.
Bodywork and paint and chrome all look presentable in places. However, the car has been poorly stored, and a lot of time, money and effort has been into this car, but now clearly wasted. Lots of spalling and oxidation to the aluminum body, hence the bubbbling. steel floor said to be very poor, rusty and needing work. No doubt given all the damp and rust, the wooden frame will no doubt also have suffered. What a shame the car was not stored more carefully...
Car only needs an engine to make it a complete proposition and a fair bit of work, but this is a good project for someone.
Will be interesting to see what the car makes, one is always tempted by one of the rarer and stylish Lagonda's that were produced by the works in the 1950's.
Back to holiday now...
Simon
