Subject: rear axle ratio
Our LG45 is fitted with the 3.66 (12x44) ratio and I think it could easily handle the higher 3.33 (13x43) ratio. Does anybody have experience of this change? Is it a simple change of just the crown wheel and pinion or other parts involved too? Any comments would be welcomed. Thank-you, Bill Inglis

Hello Bill,

Great idea to change the CWP. If you contact Lagonda Club member A12, a very well known and helpful trader located near Newbury, he may well have a 3.33 ratio pair in stock. I think he charges about £600. I have not fitted mine to my M45 saloon yet, but I gather its a nice simple mod which should make a great difference. Also note the discussion on getting a little gearbox to change the spedo reading.

Many thanks, Colin, it's good to have my theory confirmed. According to my calculations the change should decrease engine revs by ten per cent while maintaining the same road speed. And as you say, the speedo drive would need correcting too. Regards, Bill Inglis

Hi Bill,
We have done this conversion many times and all with great success,
Go for it and you will never regret it.
We have the gears in stock if you need them.

Best regards,
Julian.

I have wonder if one fits the higher ratio to my LG6 if there would be an improvement in fuel consumption.I get about 17MPG on a 500 mile journey.
