Just to update this thread for the benefit of anyone else referring to it in the future.
The Mahle OX50 is a cartridge type filter for use in the original Lagonda filter housing ie it is not a modern spin off type filter for use with the Wessex Workshop casting.
The most easily available modern filter seems to be the Mahle OC132 which is used on Nissan vans and trucks. Therefore it has quite a good capacity for a 4.5 litre Meadows engine. It also seems to be the filter of choice on 4 litre TVRs and similar.
Therefore the OC132 is the one I will be using in future.
