Subject: Horn Bracket
Does anyone have a horn bracket as the attached photo?

A pair would be better if in good condition as this one is a bit pitted, but usable if not. I do have a second one but several of the spring leaves are broken so not really usable.

Hello David,

Good news here I think. If you comb the Beaulieu Autojumble you should find that replicas are being made out a correct modern spring steel. Fortunately, not being a safety critical item, this level of specification should suffice!

Also try the motorbike spares people because a similar bracket is used to mount a horn onto the frame on a British bike.

You may have to play with rivets and buts and bolts to get exactly the right mounting.

Good luck!

Thanks Colin.

No doesn't have any. He suggests getting some new leaves laser cut (spring steel).

Sounds expensive!

The plot thickens! Try Gregories autoparts, part number 0397, price £8.50! Take a look at their site at http://www.gregorysautoparts.co.uk/catalogue.php

I have taken the liberty of attaching their picture to this posting

Good news I think

I have a pair of those in fairly good condition. The trouble is they'd need quite a lot of alteration to get one hole instead of two at the bottom. Not sure how easy it would be to cut and reshape the spring steel, plus I'd end up with the lower 2 holes cut through.

I suppose I could just make a plate to fit the two hole brackets, but didn't want to do that really. Yes, I know I'm being fussy!

Maybe the way to go is to alter what I have if I can't find any of the correct shaped ones.

I can revert to plan "A" if failure sets in (get another two hole bracket and make a plate)
